NSW: Threat of war consumes law and order race

SYDNEY, Feb 27 AAP - Politicians are banging the law-and-order drum in the final weeksrunning-up to the NSW election, but it's hard to tell whether anyone's listening.
Minimum sentencing, mandatory sentencing, tackling drugs and even "prison-style haircuts"
in jails are just a few of an array of decisions and sometimes similar pledges echoedby the two major parties.
Traditionally this "law and order auction", with the spoils going to the party withthe harshest populist line, would be grabbing attention.
