NSW: Ecstasy seizure at Sydney Airport.

Customs officers have seized 4.5 kilograms of ecstasy after detaining a man and a woman
at Sydney's Kingsford Smith Airport.

The United States couple, who arrived on a flight from Vienna yesterday, were arrested
after being turned over to the Australian Federal Police.

Federal Justice Minister CHRIS ELLISON says the male passenger was allegedly found
to be carrying several packages on his chest and thighs.

He says in all, 11 packages were allegedly found in possession of the two passengers.

Charged with possessing a prohibited import, the pair - both aged in their mid-30s
- appeared in Sydney's Central Local Court this morning.

A 29-year-old Australian woman also appeared, charged with being knowingly concerned
with the importation.

All were remanded in custody to reappear on April 23.
