MICROSOFT REVAMPS WITH ONLINE SERVICES, MSN PLAN TO SOME CONCERN
Internet Business News
01-01-1996
Microsoft Corp has revamped its Microsoft Network (MSN) into a new online serviceplace with a low monthly fee. The company plans to migrate all of its online content and services into the World Wide Web-based offering in a combination of free-to-use and subscription-service. US Internet users will pay a US$6.95 monthly fees for unlimited MSN content access or US$39.95 for the year in an introductory program. The first custom development is MSN News, a rolling news service with links to other resources, custom reporting and content. Other pricing plans are available around the world. Meanwhile there is considerable disquiet amongst many Microsoft Network (MSN) information providers over Microsoft's way of restructuring the service. Many of the original providers spent in excess of US$200,000 building an MSN site and feel that Microsoft's response that the Internet is a continually changing technology is hardly responsive and helpful.
