Taobao.com Fights against Counterfeiting
HANGZHOU, Mar 15, 2011 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Taobao.com, a C2C service provider under Alibaba Group, a leading e-commerce company, announced yesterday that it had teamed up with 89 global brands in online right safeguarding.
Taobao.com will purchase products that are suspected to be involved in right infringement by brand owners and send them to professional third parties for appraisal. Once they are regarded as dummies, Taobao.com will punish their sellers.
To improve the quality of online shopping on the platform of Taobao.com, the Web site has formed special teams to crack down on counterfeit goods. Meanwhile, Taobao.com calls on customers and brand owners to inform against counterfeiting.
In 2010, Taobao.com totally dealt with 14 million counterfeit goods, including 5.71 million deleted in partnership with more than 6,000 brand owners, and 590,000 members were punished for right infringement.
Samsung says that it is glad to see the determination of Taobao.com in cracking down on counterfeit goods, which has been a problem affecting the sound growth of the e-commerce market for a long term.
