BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 1996--The Panda Project Inc. (NASDAQ:PNDA) announced Thursday the opening of its Advanced Development Lab in Silicon Valley.
According to Stanford W. Crane Jr., President and CEO, the new facility will be located in San Jose, Calif. and will assume the lead responsibility for systems technology development. The facility will also house the West Coast marketing operation for the company's technology and Archistrat computer products.
Crane commented that: "Our roots for the first Archistrat computer linked back to Silicon Valley. We want to be developing our systems products in the Valley, and we needed to assist those companies using our semiconductor and interconnect technology in the commercialization phase of their programs."
Heading up the development site will be Roy K. Lee, vice president of New Business Development and general manager of the Advanced Development Lab. Lee is a veteran of leading edge systems development at ARL, Everex and other technology leaders in the Silicon Valley area. He holds BS and MBA degrees from the University of California, Irvine and an MS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California.
Lee stated: "It is exciting for me and my team to have advanced access to the leading edge VSPA and Compass interconnect technology. It gives us a new freedom of design, which is very attractive to any engineer who wants to be creative. We have a great platform from which to launch our next generation of internet and video servers -- the Archistrat workstation."
Bobby Toda, vice president of Sales and Marketing for Panda will be directing the West Coast office. Toda, an Apple, Seagate and Conner Peripherals veteran, commented: "With both AMP's ATM development happening in the Valley and Pantronix moving into the commercialization phase with customers, this was a natural. It's great to be working with Roy, because he understands both systems design and what entrepreneurial vigor is all about. We have also added Tom Finnegan, a Conner veteran to market our VSPA and Compass products in the Valley."
